El anfitrión fue el mismo que el año pasado, pero con un discurso mucho menos cómico y agresivo, Ricky Gervais estuvo aburrido siendo que por sus bromas del año pasado se ganó nuevamente el puesto no repitió el nivel. Él abrió la Edición 69 de los Premios Globo de Oro, 2012. Para rematar la falta de originalidad sus bromas estaban relacionadas con el material que utilizó en el 2011, contra Mel Gibson y Johnny Depp por actuar en El Turista. Por cierto Depp fue el primer invitado en entregar un premio.
Entre lo más notorio de la noche:
- Madonna le ganó Mejor canción para una película a Elton John.
- El premio honorífico por logros conseguidos en su trayectoria, el premio Cecil B. DeMille fue para Morgan Freeman por lo que mostraron mostraron un resumen de toda su carrera, quieb agradeció personalmente a Hellen Mirren y dio un reconocimiento al legendario Sidney Pottier.
- La colombiana Sofía Vergara aceptó en Español el galardón a la Mejor Comedia de TV por Modern Family.
